Minutes of Meeting – January 25, 2014; meeting called to order at 8:00am. Present: Ken Fowler; Ed Lane; Channing Gibson; Dave Roche; John McNinch.
The Board met to interview the final three candidates for the town manager position. DR gave a brief overview of the final three candidates and their qualifications. Don Jutton then briefly went through the process. Jay Carberry, chairman of the search committee, stated that this group was better than the last one. The first individual interviewed was Christopher Ketchen, from Natick, MA and currently finance director in Hopkinton. Mr. Ketchen stated that he is originally from Alford, and feels that this position is a good fit for him. He feels that it is important to integrate into the community immediately, and that communication is very important.
The next candidate interviewed was John Haverstock from Vermont. He spoke about the need for communication, public involvement and transparency. He stated that he had never worked in a resort community, but did state that he oversaw many large capital projects successfully.
The final candidate was Jason Hoch from New Hampshire. He is currently the town administrator in Litchfield, NH. He gave a brief overview of his philosophies. He feels that Lenox is very similar to Litchfield, and feels that it is important to create good working relationships with the Board and staff. He would want to get out of the office and be part of the community.
Upon the completion of the interviews, DR stated that the Board would take some time over the new few days to digest what they had heard, and would meet on Wednesday, January 29 at noon to make a decision.
